Product Development Specialist

About the role

As a Product Development Specialist at 3M, you will work with global teams to create and customize solutions for overhead transmission grids. The role blends engineering expertise with customer interaction to ensure reliable energy delivery worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements with customers and suppliers to develop, customize, and spec‑in 3M solutions for overhead transmission grids.
• Apply strong technical knowledge to complex application scenarios, supporting stable energy supply for global partners.
• Support production campaigns and field deployments through material and product testing.
• Align solutions with market requirements and emerging trends.
• Represent 3M in technical forums and contribute to industry standardization efforts.
• Utilize a company vehicle for site visits, subject to motor‑vehicle history review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of product development, engineering, or technical service experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Mechanical, material, and electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with ceramic, metal, and composite material characterization.
• Knowledge of electrical grid architecture, especially overhead transmission lines and conductors.
• Proficiency in mechanical design, CADD, and FEA tools.
• Familiarity with conductor fittings performance, qualification standards, and industry standardization processes.
• Technical project management across design, specification, and deployment phases.
