Product Design Engineer

About the role

Meta is seeking a Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to drive the specification, design, prototyping, and deployment of cutting‑edge hardware systems. You will own medium‑complexity mechanical assemblies or subsystems, collaborating across engineering, design, manufacturing, and research to bring innovative products to market.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver medium‑complexity mechanical assemblies from concept through production readiness.
• Build, test, and iterate prototypes to validate designs, ensure performance, and troubleshoot failures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate mechanical solutions with electrical, software, and industrial design.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) best practices and support high‑volume production processes.
• Coordinate with external vendors for component sourcing, prototype builds, and quality assurance.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate decisions using data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 2+ years of mechanical design experience, including shipping high‑volume commercial products or complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Experience in a research or prototype environment is a plus.
• Professional proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D/2D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.
• Knowledge of material properties (plastics, metals, adhesives) and high‑volume manufacturing techniques (injection molding, stamping, die casting).
• Experience with testing and analysis methods including FEA, simulation, and Design of Experiments.
• Understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
