About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a Process Technician to support semiconductor failure analysis, process development, and characterization activities. The role involves preparing high‑quality samples using Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) techniques, operating laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare samples for experimentation, including cleaning, mounting, loading FOUPs, and setting up analytical jobs.
- Produce TEM lamella samples using FIB techniques and identify locations of interest from engineering drawings.
- Operate and maintain SEM, FIB, TEM, and related metrology tools, performing routine maintenance and calibrations.
- Acquire high‑quality images, perform CD measurements, and conduct EDS analysis according to customer requirements.
- Monitor job queues, coordinate with engineers and customers, and maintain accurate data records.
- Document procedures, update SOPs, and participate in continuous‑improvement projects.
Required profile
- Technical certification or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Engineering Technology, Electronics, Physics, or related field.
- Hands‑on experience as a FIB Technician in a semiconductor production or failure‑analysis laboratory.
- Experience preparing TEM lamella samples using FIB.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lb and work safely in a laboratory environment.
