Process Technician III

About the role

As a Process Technician III at Applied Materials, you will prepare wafers, operate thin‑film reactors and use scanning electron microscopes to support semiconductor and display manufacturing. The role combines hands‑on equipment operation with data collection and analysis to drive process efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare wafers for experimentation, clean and load reactors, and evaluate process system performance.
• Operate and maintain scanning electron microscopes (SEM) for cross‑section, top‑view, CD and EDS analysis, including software alignment and routine cleaning.
• Prepare cross‑section samples for SEM, optimize sample‑prep procedures, and generate graphs and tables summarizing results.
• Record process conditions, monitor wafer‑in‑process throughput, and coordinate equipment repairs and supply orders.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma with 2‑4 years of relevant experience in semiconductor or materials processing.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment, follow safety protocols, and handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 lb and standing for extended periods.
• Experience performing routine equipment maintenance, shutdown procedures, and interfacing with vendors.

Required skills

• Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) operation and software alignment.
• Thin‑film reactor operation and process control.
• Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine cleaning (flash and plasma).
• Sample preparation for cross‑section SEM analysis.
• Data recording, analysis, and presentation of results.
