Process Engineer III – SIMS Metrology

About the role

As a Process Engineer you will design and optimize manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor technologies, focusing on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) metrology. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues while collaborating with global R&D teams.

Key responsibilities

• Characterize dopant profiles to evaluate implanter performance and diffusion depths across various implant recipes.
• Prioritize and manage SIMS laboratory activities to meet internal and external customer requirements.
• Develop and refine standard operating procedures for tool operation, qualification, and performance tracking.
• Drive advanced SIMS characterization techniques to support emerging device architectures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on experimental design (DOE), root‑cause analysis, and process problem‑solving.
• Build statistical process control (SPC) and tool‑health monitoring systems, maintaining uptime above 90%.
• Provide consultation, training, and analytical support to internal and external customers.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and publish findings at industry conferences.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ion‑beam interaction with materials and defects, supported by research or publications.
• Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining advanced metrology or analytical instrumentation.
• Understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, device physics, and fabrication processes.
