Process Engineer III – Optical Device Assembly

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Process Engineer III to develop, integrate, and scale optical and opto‑mechanical assembly processes for camera, display, and photonic modules. The role combines hands‑on experimentation, data‑driven analysis, and manufacturing readiness in a supportive, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, own, and mature assembly and integration processes for optical and opto‑mechanical devices.
• Design, execute, and analyze complex engineering experiments while ensuring safety compliance.
• Collect, analyze, and report data to drive process optimization and yield improvement.
• Generate internal and external documentation, including process specifications and technical reports.
• Interface with customers and vendors to resolve complex manufacturing issues and implement new technologies.

Required profile

• 1–5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Hands‑on experience in assembly or manufacturing process development.
• Strong understanding of process ownership and integration.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Python or JMP.
• Knowledge of Gage R&R and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Experience setting up, qualifying, and optimizing new equipment and processes.
