Probationary Social Studies Teacher (Grades 7‑12)

About the role

The Grand Island Central School District is seeking a probationary Social Studies teacher for grades 7‑12 at Grand Island High School. The position starts on September 1, 2026 and runs full‑time during regular school hours.

Key responsibilities

• Teach high‑school Global History and Participation in Government courses.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
• Design and administer authentic and traditional assessments to improve student achievement.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and effective classroom management.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school’s mission and vision.
• Integrate technology into daily instruction.

Required profile

• New York State certification in Social Studies (grades 7‑12).
• Evidence of academic success at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• Strong work ethic, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Positive classroom management skills.

What we offer

• Salary: BA Step 1 $49,447 or MA Step 1 $52,190 per GITA contract.
