Probationary French Teacher (Grades 9‑12)

About the role

Scarsdale High School is seeking a talented and innovative French teacher for a probationary appointment covering the 2025‑26 academic year. The position serves approximately 1,500 high‑achieving students in grades 9‑12 and contributes to a rigorous, comprehensive language program.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver French curriculum aligned with state standards and school goals.
• Teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering cultural appreciation.
• Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles.
• Utilize data systems to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment conducive to individual and small‑group learning.
• Collaborate with the World Language Department Chair and school leadership on curriculum development and professional growth.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native proficiency in French.
• Valid New York State teaching certification for French.
• Strong knowledge of current language‑teaching methodologies and differentiated instruction.
• Familiarity with federal and state education regulations.
• Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
