About the role

The Town of Whitby is seeking a Probationary Firefighter to join its professional fire service team. This entry‑level position offers the opportunity to protect the growing community, respond to emergencies, and develop a rewarding career in public safety.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and specialized incidents.
• Participate in all phases of fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical response.
• Work collaboratively with the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Platoon Chiefs, and fellow firefighters.
• Uphold the Town’s CARE values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) in daily interactions.
• Build positive relationships with internal staff, external partners, and elected officials.
