Probationary Elementary Teacher (Math AIS)

About the role

Heim Elementary is seeking a probationary elementary teacher to deliver focused mathematics instruction and academic intervention services (AIS) for K‑6 students. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Mathematics to strengthen students' mathematical understanding and support those who need additional help.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Mathematics and implement district‑wide intervention models.
• Assess students using a variety of measures to identify candidates for AIS and to inform instruction.
• Provide additional, focused math instruction and increase student‑teacher contact time.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and district requirements.
• Participate in staff development and research‑based discussions to improve math instruction.
• Communicate regularly with administrators, parents, and students about progress and needs.

Required profile

• Valid NYS Elementary Certification (K‑6) or NYS Early Childhood B‑2 plus NYS Childhood Education (1‑6) certifications.
• Demonstrated successful classroom experience as a tenured teacher in grades K‑6, preferably with experience remediating math learners.
• Strong belief that all children can excel and a commitment to nurturing and challenging them.
• Evidence of continuous professional growth and ability to lead and collaborate with staff, parents, and stakeholders.
• Exceptional classroom management and student‑engagement skills.
