PRN Registered Nurse – Tier 3 (Critical Care)

About the role

LeConte Medical Center is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (Tier 3) to provide professional nursing care in the Critical Care Unit on a variable‑hour, as‑needed basis. This position supports patient care planning, coordination with interdisciplinary teams, and delivery of age‑specific critical care services.

Key responsibilities

• Complete nursing histories, initiate patient education, and implement diagnosis‑based care plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans.
• Supervise LPNs, nursing assistants, and other support staff while ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Participate in unit‑based committees, precept new employees or students, and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• For nurses with 1+ year experience: assess patient/family learning needs, develop comprehensive care plans, and resolve moderately complex issues independently.

Required profile

• Current Tennessee RN licensure (must be maintained).
• New graduate (first year) or RN with at least one year of experience.
• Commitment to work hours defined by the Tier 3 agreement.
• Ability to supervise support staff and participate in unit committees.

Required skills

• Valid Tennessee RN license.
