Private Equity Fund Controller

About the role

This newly created position will report directly to the CFO and a firm partner, providing end‑to‑end ownership of the fund finance function for a $1B middle‑market private equity fund based in Midtown, NYC. The role offers high visibility across accounting, reporting, and operational execution for current funds, future launches, and special purpose vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fund accounting and reporting, including quarterly/annual close, NAV calculations, and investor reporting.
• Manage capital calls, distributions, treasury controls, and the management company’s cash flow.
• Calculate management fees, carried interest, and waterfall mechanics; support co‑investments and SPV structures.
• Partner with the CFO on fund structuring, LPA interpretation, tax, and audit matters.
• Design and scale accounting, reporting, and control infrastructure for future fund launches.
• Collaborate with investor relations, auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators, participating in DDQs and investor communications.

Required profile

• Significant experience in fund accounting or private‑equity finance, with a track record of autonomy.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate complex structures into clear financial outputs.
• Excellent communication skills to work cross‑functionally with investment, legal, tax, and external service providers.
