About the role
Our client, a leading environmental engineering and civil infrastructure firm, is seeking a Principal to lead and grow its Site Investigation & Remediation practice across California. The role blends technical leadership with business development, giving the incumbent autonomy to identify opportunities, secure new projects, and mentor the next generation of technical professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Generate annual net revenue exceeding $750,000 through client development and strategic business pursuits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients throughout California while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Lead proposal development, client interviews, strategic pursuits, and contract negotiations.
- Oversee environmental site investigation and remediation projects from planning through regulatory closure.
- Provide senior‑level expertise in investigation design, remedial alternatives evaluation, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead projects involving groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and sediment contamination.
- Mentor and support technical staff across the organization.
- Ensure high‑quality technical reports, work plans, remedial designs, risk assessments, and regulatory submittals.
- Represent the firm at industry organizations, conferences, and professional associations.
- Collaborate with other practice leaders to identify cross‑disciplinary opportunities.
Required profile
- 20+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, and remediation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or a related field.
- Proven track record of client development, business growth, and market expansion.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in groundwater, soil, soil‑vapor, and sediment contamination investigations.
- Experience with investigation design and remedial alternatives evaluation.
- Knowledge of corrective action implementation and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to produce high‑quality technical reports, work plans, and remedial designs.
