Principal / Senior Principal Cyber Protection Engineer

About the role

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Cyber Protection Engineer to lead cloud‑focused security testing in San Antonio, TX. You will work with a diverse team to assess, test, and improve the cybersecurity posture of mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct penetration testing and security assessments across cloud‑native and hybrid environments.
• Support offensive security operations targeting AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, containerized workloads, and enterprise services.
• Develop attack methodologies, testing procedures, and technical analyses in collaboration with senior engineers.
• Evaluate cloud security posture, validate controls, and produce technical reports with remediation guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 + years experience or Master’s degree with 3 + years experience (9 years may substitute for a degree).
• U.S. citizenship and active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Sec+, SSNA, CySA+, CNS).
• Proven experience in penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, or security assessments of cloud, enterprise, or hybrid environments.
