About the role
Join Applied Materials as a Principal Process Engineer and Customer Technologist, combining deep semiconductor process expertise with direct customer engagement. You will partner with leading semiconductor manufacturers to solve complex challenges, drive technology adoption, and influence next‑generation product development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead resolution of complex semiconductor process and technology issues using advanced troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and DOE methodologies.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to strategic customers, driving process optimization and long‑term partnerships.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, product, and business teams to develop innovative process solutions.
- Design, execute, and evaluate customer demonstrations, beta programs, and joint development activities.
- Support new technology introductions and technology transfers while customizing solutions for customer applications.
- Act as the voice of the customer, influencing product strategy and providing feedback on process and hardware improvements.
Required profile
- BS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Semiconductor Engineering (MS/PhD preferred).
- 8‑15+ years of semiconductor process engineering or technology development experience.
- Customer‑facing support for wafer fabrication accounts, including technology transfer, process integration, yield improvement, and NPI.
- Experience with Logic, DRAM, NAND, or Advanced Packaging technologies.
Required skills
- Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis tools (JMP, Minitab, SPC).
- Root‑Cause Analysis techniques such as 8D, FMEA, Fishbone.
- Semiconductor process development and optimization.
- Hardware/process interaction troubleshooting.
