Principal HVAC Design Engineer

About the role

The Principal HVAC Design Engineer will lead complex HVAC design projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance throughout all project phases. Reporting to the Discipline Lead Engineer, this role provides supervision to engineering teams and serves as the primary technical representative for the discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and guide engineers and designers on assigned projects.
• Analyze complex technical problems and recommend solutions aligned with project requirements.
• Develop and review specifications, design criteria, calculations, and material selections.
• Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
• Ensure work complies with the Project Quality Plan, scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
• Prepare estimates, schedules, progress reports, and staff forecasts.
• Manage material quantities, forecasts, and procurement support including bid evaluations.
• Provide construction administration support, responding to RFIs and field changes.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including large EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards.
• Excellent communication with project teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Detail‑oriented and able to work efficiently under time constraints.
