Principal Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing the world’s first mass‑produced portable nuclear microreactor. The company seeks a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to define and lead the embedded software architecture for instrumentation and control (I&C) systems that power this groundbreaking technology.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the embedded software architecture for I&C systems, establishing scalable patterns and standards.
• Lead design and development of fault‑tolerant embedded software for production hardware operating in demanding environments.
• Develop and bring up new drivers for a variety of sensing and actuation subsystems.
• Serve as the senior technical voice in design reviews, identifying systemic risks and guiding cross‑team decisions.
• Own the full engineering lifecycle—from architecture through test, build, and field implementation.
• Establish robust testing frameworks, validation methods, and documentation that meet rigorous safety requirements.
• Mentor embedded engineers and model technical excellence.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, and hardware leadership to align cross‑disciplinary interfaces.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience designing and delivering embedded software for safety‑critical systems.
• Ability to make high‑impact technical decisions in ambiguous, early‑stage environments.
• Strong judgment in establishing engineering standards and processes.
