Principal Cloud Engineer

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to lead the design and implementation of cloud reference architectures that support its global real‑estate operations. This senior individual contributor will translate architectural vision into working proofs‑of‑concept and production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build reference architectures, patterns, and standards for multi‑cloud environments.
• Develop and validate solutions through hands‑on POCs and guide the platform team to operationalize them.
• Partner with the Data, Digital, and AI (D2AI) team to create the cloud foundation for AI/ML workloads, including accelerated compute and model serving.
• Mentor systems administrators and engineers, fostering strategic thinking and technical growth.
• Evaluate trade‑offs, align infrastructure choices with business objectives, and create scalable frameworks for a complex, multi‑entity organization.

Required profile

• Senior technical leader with strong architectural vision and hands‑on engineering experience.
• Comfortable working across Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms and translating foundational concepts such as IAM, networking, DNS, load balancing, compute, and storage.
• Methodology‑first mindset, able to assess trade‑offs and align solutions with business goals.
• Willingness to submit a short video demonstrating use of AI tools in the engineering workflow.
