Preventive Medicine Physician

About the role

The Preventive Medicine Physician plays a vital role in keeping Airmen and their families healthy by focusing on disease prevention and health promotion. This position combines clinical expertise with public‑health knowledge to reduce the risk of illness, injury, disability and death across individuals, communities and specific populations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate preventive health programs for military personnel and their families.
• Conduct health risk assessments and epidemiological analyses to identify emerging health threats.
• Develop and advise on health policies that support community wellness and operational readiness.
• Provide clinical preventive services, including vaccinations, screenings and health counseling.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, social, cultural and behavioral specialists.
• Monitor health outcomes and adjust programs based on data-driven insights.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Preventive Medicine.
• Experience in community health, occupational health, or military health settings.
• Strong understanding of medical, social, cultural and behavioral determinants of health.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
