Preventive Medicine Officer (U.S. Army)

About the role
The U.S. Army is seeking qualified Preventive Medicine Officers to protect the health of Soldiers, retirees, and their families. You will lead Force Health Protection initiatives, develop public‑health policies, and coordinate disease‑prevention programs across military installations.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and mitigate health threats at individual and population levels.
- Direct and oversee public‑health core functions: assessment, policy development, and assurance.
- Establish and manage physical medicine and rehabilitation programs.
- Train, mentor, and collaborate with medical personnel, including nurses, entomologists, environmental scientists, and occupational medicine officers.
- Coordinate humanitarian missions and public‑health responses.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) with licensure to practice in the United States.
- Completion of a preventive medicine residency or equivalent training.
- Commitment to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
- Willingness to relocate and work on military installations.
Required skills
- Public health assessment and surveillance.
- Policy development and implementation.
- Risk communication and health education.
- Knowledge of epidemiology, environmental health, and occupational health.
