Preservation Technician

About the role

The Preservation Technician is responsible for inspecting, preserving, maintaining, and protecting natural gas compressors, gas engines, and related equipment during assembly, storage, and periods of inactivity. The role ensures equipment remains in optimal condition, preventing corrosion, contamination, and mechanical degradation before storage or shipment while adhering to all health and safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preservation procedures on compressors, engines, and mechanical systems prior to storage or transport, using fogging, oil circulation, desiccant installation, VpCI, and protective coatings.
• Install protective coverings, sealing systems, and environmental controls to prevent moisture, debris, and contamination.
• Conduct inspections of compressors, engines, piping, and auxiliary systems to verify preservation integrity and document findings.
• Maintain preservation records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs; perform periodic re‑preservation and engine rotation as needed.
• Identify and report signs of corrosion, leaks, mechanical damage, or environmental exposure risks.
• Collaborate with field technicians, mechanics, and engineering teams to ensure proper equipment handling and preservation standards.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of industry experience with natural gas compressors, gas engines, or rotating mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work independently, flexibly, and in field, shop, or outdoor environments.
• Physical capability to stand, bend, squat, lift and move up to 50 lb and perform time‑sensitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and basic mechanical troubleshooting ability.

Required skills

• Fogging, oil circulation, desiccant installation, vapor corrosion inhibitor (VpCI) application, protective coating techniques.
• Lubrication system knowledge and sealing method expertise.
• Forklift operation, rigging, and crane handling.
