About the role

The In‑school Prep Cook joins a small, dedicated team preparing fresh, made‑from‑scratch meals for hundreds of students each day. This full‑time position offers stable daytime hours with weekends and holidays off, supporting Red Rabbit’s mission to improve school nutrition.

Key responsibilities

• Read daily menu production sheets to determine quantities and preparation order.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to prioritize and execute menu items.
• Portion, weigh, cook, cool, and plate dishes according to Red Rabbit recipes and food‑safety standards.
• Pack and distribute meals to students, ensuring compliance with portion sizes and school timing.
• Accurately count and track food output to minimize waste and meet compliance requirements.
• Maintain a clean kitchen that exceeds Department of Health standards.
• Represent Red Rabbit’s values by interacting professionally with school staff and students.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional culinary experience in a high‑volume setting (restaurant, commissary, school or hospital cafeteria).
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work reliably, stay organized, and motivate oneself.
• Team‑player attitude with a positive, “can‑do” mindset.

Required skills

• ServeSafe certification.
• Food safety and sanitation knowledge.
• Industrial kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
