Preferred Communities Intern (Fall 2026, Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a motivated Fall 2026 Preferred Communities Intern to support its Preferred Communities (PC) program in Tallahassee. This unpaid, hybrid position offers hands‑on experience assisting refugees and ORR‑eligible populations with complex needs, while developing casework skills in a humanitarian setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage documents: scan, file, and organize client records.
• Perform data entry and take detailed notes during case meetings.
• Help clients develop problem‑solving abilities to promote self‑sufficiency.
• Accompany caseworkers to appointments and support service delivery.
• Collaborate with caseworkers, staff, and external community partners.
• Participate actively in staff meetings and development programs.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational ability with attention to detail.
• Creative, proactive, and able to follow through on projects.
• Genuine desire to help people in a multicultural environment.

• Flexible schedule of at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of three months.
