Preconstruction Manager – Cold Storage

About the role

Alston Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for its Cold Storage division in Downers Grove, IL. The role focuses on leading the preconstruction phase, delivering accurate and competitive proposals, and supporting business development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop thorough, accurate, and competitive cost estimates from concept through construction documents.
• Identify value‑engineered alternatives for methods, materials, schedule, and design.
• Review drawings, attend or manage bid and preconstruction meetings, and define proposal specifications and scope of work.
• Analyze historical project data, purchase orders, contracts, and cost reports to inform estimates.
• Provide design assistance and cost data to clients, design professionals, and project teams.
• Use independent judgment to resolve issues and minimize risk to the company.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and professional expertise in daily duties.
• Strong background in construction estimating and preconstruction management.
• Experience collaborating with design teams, clients, and subcontractors.
