About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Practical Instructor 2 to deliver hands‑on and workforce‑readiness training at the Muscogee Youth Development Center in Midland, GA. Under general supervision, you will guide clients in life‑skills, language, and job‑entry competencies while supporting recreational and daily‑living programs.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the varied abilities, interests, and needs of clients.
• Assess students’ educational and adjustment needs through observation and testing.
• Conduct classes, workshops, and demonstrations covering language, life, and workforce entry skills.
• Plan and lead recreational activities that teach decision‑making, physical fitness, leisure options, and social skills.
• Counsel clients on daily‑living habits and work routines.
• Estimate and manage material inventories, including cost tracking.
• Deliver lectures and demonstrations of practical techniques and equipment use.
• Develop and coordinate a comprehensive recreational program for the facility population.
• Repair, adjust, and maintain equipment and tools as needed.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, or one (1) year of experience as a Practical Instructor 1 (or equivalent).
