Power System Lead, Launch Recovery Vehicle (R6025)

About the role

Shield AI, a defense-tech company developing aircraft such as V-BAT and X-BAT, is hiring a Power System Lead for its Launch Recovery Vehicle (R6025) project. The role defines and executes the power system from concept to production, covering power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality and control, and leads a team of engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the vision of the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept to production, including generation, regulation, distribution, power quality and control.
• Design, develop and integrate high-power systems optimized for performance and reliability in harsh environments.
• Guide teammates toward appropriate custom power electronic designs and enable an uninterruptible power system.
• Run make-vs-buy trade studies, select, test and integrate modules for use in the aircraft.
• Ensure performance and reliability through rigorous verification and debug complex electrical, environmental and manufacturing issues.
• Build the team, lead multiple engineers, drive a cross-functional team on the top-level architecture, and provide mentorship, design reviews and program execution leadership.

Required profile

• Power system design experience on a large vehicle, aircraft or an equivalent system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.).
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record of delivering power system and power electronic products to market.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation and test equipment.
• Strong technical fundamentals and analysis.
