Postdoctoral Scholar – Environmental Chemistry

About the role

The Postdoctoral Scholar will work under the supervision of Professor Rabi Ann Musah at LSU, focusing on the monitoring of environmental pollutants and their atmospheric impact. The role involves independent and collaborative research, grant development, and mentorship of trainees.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments for forensic identification of illicit materials using ambient ionization MS, LC‑MS, and GC‑MS.
• Develop analytical tools and methods for monitoring environmentally relevant compounds.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate trainees, supporting their professional development.
• Disseminate research findings through manuscripts, conference presentations, technical reports, and digital platforms.
• Stay current with scientific literature, devise new experiments, and contribute to grant proposals.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry with an emphasis on analytical chemistry, detection, and identification of small molecules.
• Experience designing methods for monitoring and detecting environmentally relevant compounds.
• Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
