Postdoctoral Researcher – Polymer Upcycling

About the role

The Department of Chemical Engineering at LSU seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance polymer upcycling technologies. The successful candidate will lead experimental work converting waste polymers into valuable liquid, gas, and solid products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments on waste polymer upcycling (≈50% of time).
• Synthesize and characterize catalysts for upcycling processes (≈30%).
• Supervise undergraduate student assistants in laboratory activities (≈20%).
• Analyze experimental data and report findings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• At least 4 years of research experience as a graduate assistant or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.

Required skills

• Catalyst synthesis and characterization.
• Polymer upcycling experimental techniques.
