Postdoctoral Research Associate – Disaster Resilience

About the role

The Institute for a Disaster Resilient Texas (IDRT) at Texas A&M University seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance research on disaster resilience, coastal engineering, and flood risk reduction. The role involves collaborative, multidisciplinary projects focused on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field, laboratory, and numerical research on hydrodynamic and morphodynamic coastal processes.
• Collect and analyze coastal and storm surge data, including beach and dune modeling.
• Prepare technical reports, scientific papers, and data summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the development of decision‑support tools and evidence‑based solutions for disaster risk management.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong background in coastal or hydraulic engineering research.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaborate across disciplines.
