Postdoctoral Research Associate – Cotton Production Systems

About the role

The Texas A&M AgriLife Research team is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to lead an industry‑funded project focused on improving cotton production on the Texas High Plains. The role combines innovative field research with regenerative irrigation and fertility strategies to address water scarcity and climate challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement novel cotton production systems integrating irrigation and fertilizer timing.
• Lead field experiments across the semi‑arid High Plains, collecting soil, water, plant and climate data.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings at local, regional, and national meetings.
• Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer‑reviewed journals.
• Manage project logistics, including extensive fieldwork, travel, heavy lifting, and work in extreme environmental conditions.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and other research staff.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in soil science, agronomy, crop physiology, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in nutrient management, soil‑water dynamics, and field experiment design.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and publish scientific results.
• Willingness to perform extensive outdoor field work and travel as needed.
