Postdoctoral Fellow – Medicinal Chemistry

About the role

The Department of Chemistry at Saint Louis University seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Marvin Meyers' medicinal chemistry group. The fellow will synthesize novel small‑molecule candidates aimed at treating infectious diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute organic syntheses of intermediates and target compounds for biological testing.
• Purify compounds to journal standards using normal‑phase and reverse‑phase chromatography.
• Characterize small molecules with NMR spectroscopy and LC‑MS.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and electronic data records.
• Prepare technical reports for manuscripts and patent applications.
• Conduct literature searches relevant to project goals.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers.
• Follow university and department safety policies and manage lab supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a Ph.D. with at least two years of experience in a synthetic organic chemistry laboratory.
• Strong background in designing and executing multi‑step organic syntheses.
