Postdoctoral Fellow in Complex Photonics and Wave Control

About the role

The Yilmaz Lab at Saint Louis University seeks a motivated postdoctoral fellow to advance research in complex photonics, wave control, and light transport. You will join a multidisciplinary team focused on experimental and theoretical investigations of multiple‑scattering media and multimode fibers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate advanced optical experiments for wavefront shaping and spatiotemporal control.
• Perform numerical simulations and computational modeling to support experimental findings.
• Collaborate with theoretical and experimental partners across the department.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students involved in related projects.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Optical Sciences, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated research experience in complex photonics, wave physics, or mesoscopic optics.
• Strong experimental background in optics or wave‑based measurements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MATLAB.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics.
• Experience with Lumerical simulation tools.
