Port Intermodal Dispatcher

About the role

All Modal Transportation is seeking an experienced Port Intermodal Dispatcher to oversee daily operations of its driver fleet and company‑owned trucks serving the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports. The role combines dispatching, fleet management, and compliance responsibilities in a fast‑paced, year‑round environment.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch and schedule steady routes, coordinating appointments with terminals for pick‑ups and drop‑offs.
• Manage a local fleet of drivers, providing oversight of daily terminal operations.
• Collaborate with the Office Manager on driver qualification, hiring, training, and retention.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate routine and non‑routine truck maintenance and arrange repairs with local shops.
• Handle roadside assistance, developing cost‑effective solutions for tire changes and repairs.
• Monitor budget and operational metrics, identifying process improvements to boost performance and profitability.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of port drayage dispatching or related trucking operations experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask, maintain a positive attitude, and pay close attention to detail.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules and long hours.
• Professional driving experience is a plus.
• Additional language skills (Spanish, Russian, or Bulgarian) are advantageous.
