Policy Intern – Genocide Prevention

About the role
The Simon‑Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide is seeking a Policy Intern to support its mission of alerting the national conscience and influencing policymakers on genocide prevention. The internship is fully virtual, paid at $16 per hour, and designed for undergraduate or graduate students interested in policy analysis, research, and outreach.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a semester‑long research project on a country at risk of mass atrocities and produce a policy memo.
- Research and analyze political, social, and security dynamics in selected case studies.
- Draft written products such as briefs, memos, and background notes related to atrocity prevention.
- Support outreach to policymakers and track engagement with key stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing virtual or in‑person convenings and events.
- Maintain databases tracking policy outreach and early‑warning indicators.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Strong interest in genocide prevention, international policy, or human rights.
- Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines.
