Policy Director

About the role

The Asian Law Caucus is seeking a senior leader to direct its policy advocacy program. The Policy Director will shape and advance ALC’s agenda on economic equity, immigrant justice and inclusive democracy, working across local, state and federal levels.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop and execute ALC’s policy priorities affecting low‑income Asian American, Pacific Islander and related communities.
• Lead legislative advocacy efforts and represent ALC with policymakers, funders and partner organizations.
• Build and maintain coalition relationships with grassroots API partners and other communities of color.
• Integrate policy work with ALC’s litigation, communications and community‑engagement strategies.
• Oversee travel for stakeholder meetings, retreats and conferences as required.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in policy development and legislative advocacy.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex advocacy campaigns.
• Deep understanding of issues affecting low‑income Asian American, Pacific Islander, Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian communities.
• Strong collaborative skills to align policy with litigation and communications.

• Hybrid work model with two days per week in the San Francisco office.
• Annual compensation ranging from $143,147 to $170,925 based on experience.
