Poison Control Specialist

About the role

The Poison Control Specialist provides expert toxicology and drug information services to clinicians, patients, and the public. Working within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Poison Control & Drug Information Center, you will help assess and manage poison exposure cases.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to poison exposure inquiries via phone and electronic platforms.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations for assessment, treatment, and follow‑up.
• Document cases accurately in the center’s database and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, emergency services, and public health agencies.
• Participate in educational outreach and training programs related to poison prevention.

Required profile

• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Relevant degree or certification in pharmacy, toxicology, nursing, or a related health science.
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent documentation practices.
