Platform Engineering Lead – AI Infrastructure

About the role

Plasmidsaurus is seeking a technical leader to own and evolve the compute, data, AI, and security infrastructure that powers its high‑throughput sequencing platform. You will guide a team that builds cloud‑native services, orchestrates laboratory devices, and creates AI‑driven agents that monitor quality, logistics and bioinformatics workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Own core services that orchestrate lab robots, sequencers and on‑prem Linux servers.
• Design and implement cloud infrastructure and data pipelines to store, process and deliver terabytes of sequencing data.
• Build scalable workflow orchestration and scheduling systems for millions of bioinformatics tasks.
• Develop AI infrastructure and internal tooling for agentic systems, including quality‑monitoring agents, logistics coordination agents, and adaptive bioinformatics coding agents.
• Lead ambiguous, cross‑functional projects from concept through production.

Required profile

• 7+ years of industry experience in software or infrastructure engineering.
• Proven experience leading projects and mentoring engineers.
• Strong curiosity about scientific domains and a desire to impact the research community.
• Enjoys high agency, clear communication, and continuous learning.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Linux server administration and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Data pipeline construction and large‑scale storage solutions.
• Workflow orchestration and scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
• Experience with LLM/agent systems, prompt engineering, and safety/permissions design.
• Programming proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
