About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering for semiconductor and display manufacturing, is seeking a Plasma Etch System Engineering Director to lead complex plasma etch system projects. The role combines mechanical, electrical, physics, control‑system and materials‑compatibility expertise to deliver innovative etch solutions for next‑generation chips.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage plasma etch system projects, integrating mechanical, electrical, physics, control‑system and chemistry aspects.
• Design, develop and implement engineering programs aligned with project budgets and release schedules.
• Define long‑range plans, engineering strategies and performance metrics for system development.
• Drive NPI productivity enablement and high‑volume manufacturing readiness.
• Collaborate with product marketing, process/application, manufacturing and customer field teams.

Required profile

• 8‑12+ years of etch system experience in the semiconductor equipment industry.
• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional engineering teams and influence senior executives.
• Willingness to travel 25‑40% internationally and work off‑hours as needed.
