Plant Operator / Maintenance Technician

About the role

Veolia is seeking a dedicated Plant Operator/Maintenance Technician to run and maintain two surface water treatment plants and associated facilities. The role ensures continuous, safe water production while complying with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor two surface water treatment plants and related infrastructure using the SCADA system.
• Perform manual water treatment operations during SCADA outages.
• Collect water samples and conduct routine chemical tests (alkalinity, pH, chlorine, fluoride, jar tests).
• Interpret test results and adjust treatment processes as needed.
• Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and safety logs.
• Execute emergency operating procedures and respond to after‑hours incidents.
• Perform routine housekeeping, safety inspections, and chemical handling.
• Carry out maintenance tasks via the computer‑based Work Order system.

Required profile

• Reports directly to the Production Manager and works on a rotating schedule.
• Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
• Understanding of Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and Delaware water quality standards.
• Ability to follow SOPs for filters, pumps, and other treatment equipment.
