Plant Operator – Industrial Facility

About the role

Big Brown Fly Ash is seeking a reliable, safety‑focused Plant Operator to join its Fairfield, TX facility. You will monitor, operate, and maintain equipment used to process coal ash residuals, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust pumps, valves, conveyors, screens, mixers, and control systems.
• Perform routine plant rounds, inspections, and record readings.
• Assist with receiving and unloading residual material deliveries.
• Monitor SCADA/PLC systems, respond to alarms, and report process variations.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical or process issues and relay findings to maintenance.
• Follow SOPs and safety protocols consistently.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication and filter changes.
• Collect samples and conduct field tests (pH, moisture content).
• Complete logs, shift reports, and other documentation accurately.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in industrial operations, water/wastewater treatment, or manufacturing preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of pumps and valves.
• Control system operation (SCADA, PLC).
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Basic field testing (pH, moisture).
• Documentation and reporting.
