Placement Specialist – Employment Services for Deaf Community

About the role

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) is seeking a dedicated Placement Specialist to provide employment services to deaf and hard‑of‑hearing individuals. Working under the Deputy Director, you will support both clients and internal staff while fostering strong employer partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive employment services, including recruitment, assessment, counseling, and job development for deaf and hard‑of‑hearing clients.
• Coordinate training contracts, negotiate placements, and conduct follow‑up with both clients and employers.
• Provide sensitivity training and support to GLAD staff and external employers.
• Supervise, evaluate, and approve timesheets for the Job Connection Interpreter.
• Prepare weekly operational reports and communicate regularly with the Deputy Director.
• Collaborate closely with the Job Connection Interpreter and other GLAD teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Fluency in American Sign Language.
• Proven experience delivering job development services to deaf and hard‑of‑hearing populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse, multi‑ethnic community.
• Excellent written communication, organization, and confidentiality.
• Reliable transportation and up‑to‑date auto insurance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
