Pipeline Operator II

About the role

The Pipeline Operator II ensures safe operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of natural gas and crude oil gathering pipelines and associated facilities such as tanks, LACT units, pumps, compressors, dehydration units, JT fuel skids, and separators across Canes G&P and Logistics assets. The role upholds the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and leadership while supporting Canes Midstream’s policies and objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain crude oil pipelines and storage facilities (pumps, tanks, LACT units, pneumatic/electronic controls, pipes, valves).
• Pig crude pipelines and gauge crude oil tanks.
• Monitor RVP of oil product and run centrifuge to assess crude BS&W.
• Shake out oil pots, witness meter proving, record LACT readings, and prepare month‑end paperwork.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain natural gas pipelines and compressor stations (TEG dehydration units, multi‑stage reciprocating compressors, JT fuel skids, separators, meters, control valves, regulators, pneumatic/electronic controls).
• Pig high‑pressure and low‑pressure steel and poly natural gas pipelines.
• Start/shutdown, load/unload, troubleshoot issues, and adjust cooler louvers on gas‑fired compressors.
• Rebuild liquid level control valves and other pneumatic control equipment.
• Respond to 811 and line‑locate requests, use line locator/probe, and coordinate locates with customers and contractors.
• Collaborate with Gas Control to manage flow on regulated pipelines.
• Work with engineering and construction on new pipeline builds and equipment.
• Follow Canes policies, procedures, and industry standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook and Excel.
• Residence in the San Angelo/Big Lake/Sterling City, Texas area.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of natural gas gathering and compression.
• Knowledge of crude oil gathering, storage, and delivery.
• Successful completion of a DOT drug screen may be required.
