About the role

The System Offices of the Texas A&M University System is seeking a Pilot I to operate a Citation XLS and/or a King Air 200. The role involves full responsibility for flight planning, aircraft operation, and mentoring less‑experienced crew members while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Act as pilot‑in‑command for scheduled flights, prioritising safety, quality and efficiency.
• Conduct pre‑flight inspections, develop comprehensive flight plans and consider passenger needs.
• Make air‑worthiness decisions when the aircraft is not at a maintenance facility.
• Determine whether to initiate, postpone, or cancel flights based on operating conditions.
• Document flight details for billing and aircraft historical records, including mechanical discrepancies.
• Maintain and update aircraft and navigation documentation, ensuring proper certification.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior crew members.
• Assist the Regional Flight Director and Chief Pilot with additional duties as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2,000 total flight hours, including 800 hours as pilot‑in‑command.
• At least 800 multi‑engine hours, with 300 hours in turbo‑prop or jet aircraft.
• Commercial pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for the aircraft flown.
• Multi‑engine rating and relevant endorsements.
