Picking Lead – Warehouse Operations

About the role

Sandvik is seeking a Picking Lead to coordinate daily picking activities in its Alachua, FL warehouse. You will ensure that production lines stay supplied by assigning work, tracking progress, and acting as the primary communication link between pickers, warehouse leadership, and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and prioritize daily picking tasks based on production schedules, urgent releases, and rig‑specific needs.
• Monitor warehouse email, radio traffic, and the LEAN ERP/WMS queue to identify time‑critical picks and reroute work as needed.
• Track open picks, completion status, and accuracy throughout the shift; provide regular updates on order status, productivity, and bottlenecks.
• Maintain accountability for tablets, scanners, and handheld devices, including distribution, collection, condition checks, and loss/damage reporting.
• Escalate operational issues, inventory discrepancies, equipment problems, and resource constraints that affect picking performance or safety.
• Model and enforce compliance with Sandvik’s Integrated Management System and ISO standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing logistics experience.
• 6–12 months in a lead, coordinator, or key operator role strongly preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred; must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control using RF scanners and tablets.
• Proficiency with ERP (LEAN) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Strong command of Microsoft 365 tools: Outlook, Teams, Excel.
• Ability to read, interpret, and act on picking productivity, accuracy, and on‑time fulfillment KPIs.
• Sharp attention to detail and a bias for accuracy.
