About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a physicist/scientist to join its Quantum Program in Santa Clara. The role focuses on developing novel inspection and metrology systems for advanced semiconductor and display technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Define novel inspection system concepts, configurations, and perform statistical experiments.
- Design, engineer, and qualify modules and sub‑modules for new products.
- Develop and modify inspection and metrology systems, troubleshooting field issues.
- Lead feasibility studies, evaluate new technologies, and support risk‑management decisions.
- Guide less‑experienced physicists and contribute to vendor selection and customer engagements.
Required profile
- Strong conceptual and practical expertise in physics and related disciplines.
- Ability to solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions.
- Experience leading small projects and mentoring junior team members.
- Knowledge of best practices, market competitors, and integration with other engineering areas.
