Physician Specialist - Option C (Psychiatry & Neurology)

About the role

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery of the Illinois Department of Human Services is hiring a Physician Specialist, Option C, for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center in Chicago. The position is part-time, salaried and licensed by the State of Illinois; it is a union position covered by the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a full range of psychiatric and medical assessments and treatments to patients on an assigned shift.
• Conduct examinations, make diagnoses and treat patients.
• Serve as a member of the treatment team.
• Answer emergency calls.
• Perform and write psychiatric evaluations.
• Evaluate, prepare for and attend court testimony.

Required profile

• Illinois license to practice medicine in psychiatry and neurology.
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the State does not sponsor employment visas.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.

• Anticipated salary of $16,326 to $22,422 per month ($195,912 to $269,064 per year), prorated for part-time work.
