Photonics & AR Process Integration Engineer

About the role

The Process Integration Engineer will develop and optimise nanotechnology process flows for photonics and augmented‑reality (AR) displays, ensuring high performance, yield and reliability while working within Applied Materials' Photonics Platform Business Group.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise nanotechnology process flows for photonics and AR displays, ensuring performance, yield and reliability.
• Collaborate with design, process and equipment engineers to define integration strategies and transfer technology from R&D to high‑volume manufacturing.
• Conduct thorough characterisation, troubleshoot issues, and generate technical documentation and simple test‑macro layouts.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field (PhD preferred).
• 8+ years of process integration experience in semiconductor/photonic or MEMS environments, preferably in high‑volume manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of nanotechnology processes such as lithography, etch, deposition, CMP and metrology.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, SPC and tools like JMP.

Required skills

• Lithography, Etch, Deposition, Chemical Mechanical Planarisation (CMP), Metrology.
• Statistical Data Analysis, Design of Experiments, SPC, JMP.
• Reading GDS/OASIS layout files; familiarity with Optical Proximity Correction (OPC).
• Knowledge of optics principles, photonic components and industry standards (ISO, SEMI, ITAR).
