About the role

The Phlebotomy Technician II will lead a team of Phlebotomy Technicians I, coordinating blood‑collection activities across inpatient wards and outpatient clinics. This position supports the delivery of diagnostic testing for a large, diverse patient population within Los Angeles County’s public health system.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, assign, and supervise Phlebotomy Technicians I based on workload, staffing levels, and individual qualifications.
• Review and ensure the quality of venipuncture and skin‑puncture procedures performed by the team.
• Allocate technicians to specific inpatient or outpatient areas, balancing demand and skill sets.
• Maintain accurate records of specimen collection and ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to prioritize urgent specimen needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in phlebotomy, including venipuncture and skin puncture.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate a team of junior phlebotomists.
• Familiarity with diagnostic laboratory workflows and safety protocols.
• Strong organizational skills to manage assignments across multiple locations.
