Phlebotomist – Full‑Time, 1st Shift (4am‑12:30pm)

About the role

The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 to join the U‑Tower Hospital team on the early 1st shift (4 am – 12:30 pm). The role involves drawing blood, verifying patient records, and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis while providing compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology patients and manage pre‑accession specimens.
• Verify patient identity and answer questions about test requisitions, specimen requirements, and results.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and keep accurate logs and files.
• Assist the supervisor with statistical reporting and generate required reports.
• Process cancellations, credits, and additions of test procedures while adhering to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification, HIV certification, and BLS certification (AHA).
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to university core values and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
