Pharmacokinetic, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics Intern (2027 Future Talent Program)

About the role

The 2027 Future Talent Program offers internships of up to 12 weeks, each including one or more projects, within the Research and Development division. The DMPK group of the Pharmacokinetic, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics (PDMB) department provides ADME data to guide lead candidate optimization and development, and is seeking summer interns. The internship is fixed term, with no relocation or travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in developing and running cell-based induction assays for major drug metabolizing enzymes
• Evaluate approaches to quantify mRNA to assess upregulation of CYP gene expression
• Explore automation options to streamline Cytochrome P450 induction workflows
• Perform in vitro assays using cell culture, enzymes, cell suspensions or tissue preparations
• Discuss science and interpret data, and share results verbally and in writing
• Keep careful records, complete required training and follow laboratory safety rules

Required profile

• Currently enrolled full-time in the fall semester of an accredited university, as a junior or senior undergraduate or a graduate student (master's or PhD)
• Major in Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related field
• At least 3 years of study toward a bachelor's degree by June 2027
• Available to work full time for up to 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027
• GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred

Required skills

• Basic laboratory skills and research experience with in vitro biological systems and cell culture, including aseptic technique, pipetting and dilutions
• Ability to follow procedures and document experiments
• MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Preferred: cell and molecular biology, reverse transcription and real-time PCR, basic pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism, interest in automation
